MSc, PhD, Professor and Director of INSCF
I am a Professor of Neuroscience and Neuropsychopharmacology at the University of Pavia and the Director of INSCF. My career began in Milan, where I earned my degree in Biological Sciences and PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Over the past 30 years, I have worked in prominent research centers, including the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, and Cardiff University. My research focuses on neurobiological mechanisms of brain disorders, with a particular emphasis on neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases. I am especially interested in translating research findings into practical applications by developing novel therapeutics and diagnostic tools validated in human cellular models and animal models. I have pioneered the creation of hiPSC-based cellular platforms for screening therapeutic targets and exploring drug repurposing strategies.
